Video Conferencing

The college has its own video conferencing equipment which is based in dedicated accommodation. JKGTC has been involved on video conferencing since 1999 and over recent years has developed considerable expertise and experience in the application of this form of communication.

Video – conferencing is now integrated into the college curriculum and has featured in the curriculum provision for every faculty. The college was a member of the DfES “Video conferencing in the classroom” project and is regularly visited by staff from other schools wishing to investigate the potential of this facility.

The college links regularly with two main providers of educational video – conferences:

Examples of recent video conferences:

  • Discovering Space – a year long project with schools in Cape Town
  • Design in Secondary Schools - a joint project with a school in Chicago
  • Year 12 students linking with the National Portrait Gallery
  • Year 10 students linking with Cambridge University on the topic – “What have Mathematicians done for us?”
  • Year 8 students linking with the Anne Frank Museum, Amsterdam on the life of Anne Fran
