Welcome to the John Kelly CPD webpage, where you can begin planning both the short-term and long-term needs of your professional development.
What is CPD?
Your continuing professional development can manifest itself in many different forms - schools no longer rely solely upon external providers, but have become far more creative in offering opportunities that have a more direct impact upon classroom practice. There is now a clear emphasis upon teachers and teaching assistants themselves becoming far more responsible for their career development - please contact Mr Ross McGill if you would like a personal development folder. Examples of CPD may include:
- Attending Internal CPD sessions
- Peer observations
- Visiting other schools to observe best practice
- Conducting research within JKGTC (Chartered London Teacher Status)
- Participating in a student shadowing group
- Coaching or mentoring colleagues
- Sharing best practice at Faculty Team meetings
- Contributing to the JKGTC teaching & learning forum (to be launched in Fronter)
- Collaborative planning
- Attending network meetings with colleagues from other Brent schools
- Conducting reviews with student related to aspects of learning and teaching.

- GTP & ITT Programme - Wednesday afternoons
- NQT Programme – Wednesday afternoons and individual mentoring sessions
- Early professional development - Coaching programme of post-NQT teachers

From September 2009, a CPD working party will be set up at John Kelly to advise you on matters such as the internal CPD programme and whole school INSET days. Please contact Mr Ross McGill if you would like to attend.
